The State Treasurer is elected by joint ballot of both houses of the General Assembly (Const., Art. VI, sec. 1; Code State Government Article, sec. 5-101).
In February 2015, the Joint Committee on the Selection of the State Treasurer was formed by the Senate President and House Speaker. The Committee reviewed resumes of interested parties, and conducted interviews on February 18, 2015. The election of the State Treasurer is to take place on February 25, 2015.
