ANNAPOLIS COMMISSION ON MARYLAND'S CONSTITUTION OF 1864 & THE ABOLISHMENT OF SLAVERY
The Annapolis Commission on Maryland's Constitution of 1864 and the Abolishment of Slavery was authorized in December 2011 (City Council Resolution no. R-59-11). The Commission is to commemorate and share the history and legacy of the people affected by the Maryland Constitution of 1864. Moreover, the Commission will collaborate with others to plan and execute a citywide celebration of the 150th Anniversary of Maryland's 1864 Constitution, and Maryland's Emancipation Day, November 1, 2014.

Appointed by the Mayor with City Council consent, the Commission consists of eleven members, the majority of whom are Annapolis residents.
